I asked the seller of my HIDs on eBay if they were UV protected when I bought them, he said to me that one person who bought them tested them and found their UV content to be virtually zero, does this mean they are UV protected?
UVprotected HIDs?

#2What headlights you putting them in normal or angels?
-
#3They are currently in my smoked standards...but gonna get some angels soon and was gonna buy just a set of H1 bulbs form the same seller?
-
#4Just use the normal ones, any reason why you need uv protected ones? Standard headlights im probly sure you know you need h4 bi xenon, the angel eyes are h1 and you can still use same power packs (ballasts)
-
#5Yeah i've already got my h4 kit in the standards...but gonna buy a set of H1 bulbs if I get osme angels, I heard for angel eyes the HIDs need to be UV protected not to burn the lenses as they are plastic?
Also. how would I go about converting a H4 HID kit loom into a H1 for the angels -
#6I see, to use same ballasts just get rid of the loom so you only have the power packs. You dont need that h4 loom.
I hate normal h1 8k bulbs in my angels and 8months later, they are perfectly fine. Had no problems what so ever.
To use the h1 with angels all you need is the bulbs and ballasts, they'll all plug in and with the h1 bulb its really simple.
The connection from the normal h1 bulb inthe angel eyes will plugs straight into the connection on the h1 bulb.
its really easy if you any help when you do it, pm me and il send you some pics of my hids in the angels and wiring

#7Ah fair enough mate...so you say just get some of the bulbs from the seller i bought mine from before?
And thanks mate ill bare that in mind....just need to decide if i deffo want angels lmao -
#8Just an update to this, does anyone know if its the bulb or the ballast which makes a HID kit UV protected? Also does anyone know a seller of either UV protected bulbs or ballasts?
-
#9TBH It doesnt matter whether its UV protected or not, I have seen saxo angels with cheap £30 HID kits and they havent burnt/melted anything and its been over a year. I have personally never seen a melted angel caused by cheap HIDs yet. However, the choice is yours!

#10I know a lad with a Corsa and his seem to have not melted but they leave like faint cracks on the inside of the lights?Quote:TBH It doesnt matter whether its UV protected or not, I have seen saxo angels with cheap £30 HID kits and they havent burnt/melted anything and its been over a year. Also, my standard smoked headlights, on the reflector part it has some white staining from the HID bulbs, it does wipe off but I assume its because of not being UV protected? -
#11All HID kits will be fine and wont damage the standard headlights as they are mde from glass, probably just dust/dirt settling on the lense..Quote:I know a lad with a Corsa and his seem to have not melted but they leave like faint cracks on the inside of the lights?

#12Not the lense mate the reflector, which is plastic, i'm 99% sure its the hid burning a white stain onto them as it is only around the HID bulb
