When I was fitting a new roll pin today I found this:

A bit of a shit pic but the boot in the pic has perished at one end and dropped off, I trimmed the tatty bit off, put a bit of lithium grease inside, popped it back on and cable tied it as best I could, somehow I don't think it will stand the test of time, so is it extremely important that its there, if so what is it for/called and is it hard to change...I can imagine it being a bastard as it was more fiddly re attaching it than fitting the roll pin
