smelling petrol fumes!!

    when driving around with the windows down i get the odd smell of petrol fumes, also when i turn the heating on i get the smell quite bad, unsure what is causing it, heard it could be the cat on its way buy unsure how to check.

    check all you breather pipes for leaks or blocks

    Mine does it from time to time,I have an injector problem though.

    ive checked breather pipes and i do have one which is split completely so ill try patching it up and see if it makes a difference. how would i go about checking the injectors to see if they are at fault also?

    You can electrically test them,but when I had my MOT 2wks ago it only just passed because the injectors were blocked.I`ve since added injector cleaner & will see if it makes a difference as sometimes on cold start the engine will misfire & stink of fuel.If that doesn`t work then i`ll get the injectors utrasonically cleaned & tested.It could also be the automatic choke giving too much fuel or an ecu problem.

    well bin to the scrappy and salvaged a replacement breather pipe, fitted it yesterday and cant smell any petrol now, seems to have worked thanks
