Rubber seal around rocker cover

  1. #1
    Noob question alert..
Just spotted thet the rubber seal that sits around the rocker cover is split on the corners .

Is this seal seperate to the rocker cover gasket or is this the same item?

If so are these easily available to replace?

    Cheers

Thanks mate for the really fast reply

1999 standard so will need a seal.
One more thing -any harm in using both the rubber gasket and gasket sealant just to be sure or is that overkill..?

    Cheers

You can do it that way another way is to smear some engine oil around the head before putting the seal on.

Assume thats meant to soften the rubber seal to form a better seal..bit like changing an oil filter?

Out of interest where would I put the sealant?

Under the rubber gasket or on top where it meets the cover..and just how much?

    Just to be sure...

i would clean that rubber gasket off then sealent where the gasket was. Well a reasonable amount of sealent around will do the trick. remember it's going to spread across when you bolt it down though.
