hi spec 4 pots that will fit under some 13s i think. use the M16 lug type. -
#5266mm brake upgrade there off 206 gti, and off 206 hdi 2.0 u could also look at the 206 gti 180 for big brake upgrade
ive just gt my 266mm kit cost me £60 bargain
-
#6266 is the best option
better stopping power wide selection of cars with them on and they arnt as heavy as the 283s.
What ever you get team them up with good quality discs and pads along with good quality fluid and the correct length braided hoses (which i can supply) and your laughing -
#7I have 266mm Callipers on my VTR and they fit under the 14's perfectly, I have standard rubber hoses along with Mintex Pads and Discs and they are amazing compared to the 247mm's.

#8You don't need 406 brembos unless you're running massive power or you're an ASW. (like me) 266mm discs and calipers from a 206 gti or similar are supposed to be great and an ideal upgrade for a Saxo, Mikol on here sells part refurbed 266 calipers at good prices so worth getting in touch with him.
On a related note, does anyone know if Brembo calipers from other models than the 406 will fit? Have seen Brembos from Clio 197s, Focus RS, Fiat Coupe to name a few on ebay. Are any of them the same spacing as the pug items? -
#9They are the same base caliper, alot of the pads are the same but the mount lugs are slightly differentQuote:You don't need 406 brembos unless you're running massive power or you're an ASW. #10will 266 fit under 13s though?
Need 13s for slicks. -
#11focus RS brambos and fiat 20vTurbo ones are the same caliper but the lug spacing is too far apart for the saxo strut1 user thanked this post:

266 are good but overheat on track if behind 14'' rallye steels -
#14On a standard car, I found that good standard spec pads, discs and fluid have been plenty. 266s will be more than enough (says the guy with 285mm Hispecs on an AX lol)
-
#16Sorry, I wasn't as clear as I thought, I run 14's and that's how much room I have.Quote:I have just enough space to put 2 alloy sticky weights on top of each other (hope you can guage clearance from that)
Dave.
Here is a picture of mine, sorry for the lack of light, I had just fitted them but didn't have my camera to hand so used the phone...

#17just fitted some 266mm calipers myself. Bought them off ebay for £25! bargin. They feel a lot more powerful than the 247s and stopping power is great
the only downside to upgrading to this calipers is the pedal travel is increased so braking is a bit weird to get used to at first can be solved though with a 23mm master cylinder I've read.
Its worth it upgrading though m8 -

You do get used to the travel, the travel is good in my opinion as I think with a larger MC the brakes will be more on and off, instead of a gradual force. -
#19From what i've read 266's require minimum 14" wheel and 283's 15" wheel, if it helps
-
#20Cheer everyone for help! Wat was the 266 brakes fitted too as standard? Mite be a stupid question?

And so not worth buying bigger kits like tarox or brembos? -
#21Forgot to say I'm running 15" pro race 1.2 wheels if this makes a difference?!
-
#22come from a 206 gti 130bhp, im running 206 gti 180 brakes there 283mm and the stopping power is unreal im using it with brembo discs and pads. but 283mm just clears my 15"vts wheels in no more so they wont fit 14"wheels

#23Do the callipers and discs of a 206 gti jut fit on the saxo vtr hubs and do the calipers need and spacers or anything?
-
#24Callipers and Discs off a 206 GTI are the 266mm ones, the callipers need one side grinding down to a rounded edge to clear the strut, but apart from that they are a straight fit.Quote:Do the callipers and discs of a 206 gti jut fit on the saxo vtr hubs and do the calipers need and spacers or anything?
You have 2 callipers, a lucas and a bosch, there was a an early and a later type, the lucas was the early type and some bosch's also, they had a 266mm disc that was 20.7mm thick. The later bosch ones had a 22mm thick disc.
If you PM Mikol, ask him for the later bosch ones, he'll supply them refurbished, ground down and painted to a colour of your choice, he'll also post them to you.

#25This is my 266mm setup on my vtr.....

Bosch 54 calipers, exact braided lines and mintex discs with unipart pads (came with the calipers).....got it all for under £70 -
#26You got new calipers, discs, braided hoses and pads for 70 quid?!
-
#27Yeahhhh bro,
Second hand calipers, brand new discs, part worn pads and second hand but brand new braided lines. -
#28Ahh right
Braided hoses worth it? What's the difference -
#29They are apparently worth it....advantage is obviously reducing pressure loss (bulging) and giving you a better feel on the pedal but i'm yet to be convinced really. If I was on a budget or didn't find these second hand I would have just stuck with the rubber ones.
-
#30Yeah I'll replace em with braided when they need doing lol
-
#31Braided hoses aint expensive, i can do them at £26.50 the pair deliverd and made to spec for either 266 or 283.
-
#32I use rubber hoses and they are adequate, when I come to replace my rear callipers I'll be putting braided lines instead of rubber, I could "report" back with the results, although that would be a few weeks away...
-
#33I have some 266mm calipers you can buy if you want.
