Knocking out a stud pin (Wheel bearing) best method?

   Whats the best method for knocking out the stud pin that the wheel bearings on without damaging the end

   You mean the STUB pin?
   
   On the rear axle?
   
   The small stub axle coming out of the trailing arm which the hub and wheel mount to?

   the stub pin the wheel bearing sits on comes out with a clout, block of hardwood and a big hammer is best, put nut back on to prevent thread damage. I find it better to use the sledge hammer as it fetchs them out with one hit rather then tapping away with a small one, seems to cause less damage
