When cold, it won't go into 1st gear...

   Hi there been searching everywhere so I thought I'd ask on here as I've never had this problem on a car before.
   
   Only from cold will my Saxo (Y Reg) struggle into 1st gear. I don't mean it crunching into 1st gear I mean sometimes I'll get up to 3rd for example fine but when I go from 3rd to 1st it just won't go in, the car drives as if i'm in neatral and all I'm doing is hitting the gas.
   
   I turned the engine off and on and still couldn't get into gear. After about 30 seconds, It slotted into 1st and from then on no problems.
   
   This happens everytime you start the car from cold, once its warmed up this never happens.
   
   Any ideas?

   oil?
   or is it only 1st giving you grief?

   When setting off, it goes into all the gears fine, but when going down in the gears and getting to the point of dropping it into 1st sometimes it just won't go in.
   
   At times from cold it won't go into any gear when slowing down but once warmed up, its fine.

   i would check the oil in the box mate
   
   ortherwise you may need a new one
