High revs and alternator now not working, help!!!

   Hi, ok not a Saxo but same engine, my 206 been playing up, past couple of weeks it's been revving high on start, up to about 3000 revs but once been on fast drive down bypass it's ok, it always stars 1st time too, until earlier and now dead, can't be battery as been no sign of that going, tried to bump it and nothing so pretty sure it's alternator, can this also be connected to the high revving problem I've been having????

   Coolent temp sensor usually gives the symptoms of those revs.
   
   Being dead could be one of many problems. Try another battery or charging it and see if dash lights come on and go from there.

   Ill look into that cheers.
   All lights on dash come on now, everything works just doesn't fire up, can hear alternator belt trying to go round,

   Car now started after jump leads but seems to be lacking power when using electrics and squeaky belt.
