Water Leeking from hole under thermostat housing

   Hi, I seem to have a hole under my thermostat housing and water is constantly coming out of it when the engines running. The holes round and is about the size of my index finger. The hole has lips around it so someone suggested it could be a core plug.
   
   Does anyone else have an idea what this could be? I would take a picture but I could only just get my finger under the housing, let alone a camera.

   Edit: The hole is actually on the metal of the engine itself, not on the thermostat. The hose goes into the thermostat, and on the same part of the engine there is a hole underneath.

   I've managed to find a picture of the part on the Citroen Servicing website, the hole is circular and on the bottom of that part.
