Tappets... :(

    Since I had my headgasket done on the Saxo the tappets have been VERY loud, not just slightly loud, a mate adjusted them for me and they were quieter for a while but they are now back to being loud...

    What other options are there now?
    I.e, if I were to have anything replaced to stop it what would I need to have replaced and how much would it cost??

    I had this problem on my old car (A corsa) but when we looked, the tappets were all good, turned out that the arms holding the cams in were loose and needed tightening (Not sure if the saxo engine is put together differently as I have never had to open mine up), check this first, as it stopped the tapping

    How long ago were they adjusted? Driving too hard from cold can make the tappets noisy but 8v engines are always a bit tappety anyway

    Mine ant shes sound was loud once but done tappets 0.3 inlet. 0.2 exshaust or other way around.

    .3 exhaust .2 inlet thats about what i do them

    Yes mate if it is the tappets that are makin the noise.
