Tail light tint spray

  1. #1
Hi, when i tinted my rear lights i ended up sanding them both down, then giving them a few coats of gloss black paint. I knew they weren't going to be the brightest but thought i'd try it anyway. Anyway, had some man flashing me last night for some unknown reason while i was on my way to Tesco. When i got to Tesco he was still behind me, so i parked up and he parked up next to me, i got out and he said that i had no rear side lights. Put them on and yes they are VERY dim when the brake isn't applied which isn't good i know.

SO.. i just bought some proper black tail light tint spray. Does it matter how much is applied? It says it is very translucent..

They should be fine, will sand the paint off and see how they come out. My mate has sanded his off before and came out fine to re-do. But if they dont.. i'll get back to you!

I obviously wouldn't be spraying the whole tin on, what i should of said was, do you reckon with proper tint spray i could get them a nice black, not slightly tinted? Basically how dark they are in my progress thread but with the light being able to shine through a loot better with it being the proper stuff. Thanks for the reply.

as said do a layer let dry 15 mins do another layer till your taste. if you want to go dark then get some brighter bulbs. oh and make sure you leave a bit of the reflectors on show or get some stick on reflectors on ya bumper come mot time

but yes you can go very dark

Aslong as you can see the all the lights and reflectors work it will pass the MoT and you wont get stopped

Is it absolutely okay to clean tail light lens with a tint spray? Sorry for the ignorance.

I wouldn't say having it the same shade will let much more light through than 'normal' gloss black paint. Think about it, if it's letting no more red through, why should it let anymore light through?

As has been said, do it a coat at a time and let it dry, then try it and repeat until you are happy.
