Crash helmet painting

    Any one know where I can lay my hands on paint for crash helmets at all??

    I didn't think you could spray helmets?

    you can, but it could also weaken the structure of the helmet . . .

    At the price of helmets i cant afford to repklace mine at the moment! :/

    you can pick up lids for like 50 quid ... even new. just not that comfortable.

    i tend to spend a fair bit more on them though. but its possible to do on a budget.

    My sparco clubman only cost me £150 iirc got it threw demon theives..

    Both of my helmets have hans device posts on them!!

    I paint a hell of a lot of lid's and there are regulations.

    all paint used must be water based or acrylic.
    all fia stickers must be masked and not painted over.
    the helmet should not be rubbed down in any way (give it a good scotch no one knows)
    and the last one is that the helmet should not be exposed to any heat like in a oven or under uv lamps to dry the paint.

    also its a good bet to get the Scrutineer at a track day to certify the helmet once its painted to be sure its safe and legal to race in (you get a blue paper sticker with a signature.)

    But the paint you need you can get from hobbycraft made by humbrol just make sure its the acrylic spray paint and not the solvent or you will damage the helmet.

    cheers Bedford. I knew there was a certain type paint that could be used but could'nt remember what type of paint that could be used!
