MOT failure?

Okay two things I wanted to find out if they were an MOT failure or not...

My passenger door does not lock or unlock from the outside, yet locks and unlocks fine from the inside, and also does not shut unless you push it, would this be an MOT failure?

Also... with my strut brace on my bonnet wouldn't close, would it be an MOT fail to take the part that holds the bonnet up off of the bonnet and keep it inside the car in case the bonnet needs supporting?

if your door is unable to open, it will fail. take it in with the door unlockd, so he can open it from the inside - he might be ok with that. he might not.

the bonnets needs supporting up, whilst there is under bonnet checks.

my old car passenger side door wouldnt open from the outside but would from the inside and it didnt fail on mine so that should be ok! not sure about the bonnet though!

Well it opens from the outside okay as long as it's unlocked??

and I'm sure I could find a way of putting the thingy that holds the bonnet up under there somehow...

Just take your strut brace off for now or get some lifters that 106 bonnets have.

as above leave the door unlocked as long as it can be opened from outside you'll be ok and as a mot tester if the bonnet stay is missing we just use a broom/mop to hold it up for a few minutes

Would love to but would mean I'd have to get someone to weld on the parts!

Alright nice one thanks So you wouldnt fail it for not having one?

Think I'll probably just take off the strut brace!

As long as you can open and close the door then its not a problem, locking is not included in mot.

As far as i know, if an mot tester cannot open a bonnet (tvr tuscan) then he does not have too. if the bonnet cannot be supported is probably along the same lines.

So if they can't actually open the bonnet then they don't even have to check anything under there?

Ah nice one thanks. Looks like it would only fail if the bonnet could not be secured down or opened or would obstruct view...
