unusual noise

   Citroen saxo 1.4 desire,
   Automatic gear box
   
   Hello all
   I have a strange whining/whirring sound when I have the car in park or neutral. This usually occurs when the car is cold. When I put the car in gear it disappears though. I took it a chap who specialises in auto gear boxes and the sound did not happen but he came out for a drive and said the gear box is ok otherwise. My brother had a listen under the bonnet and he said it might be the air box or injectors as that’s where the sound is coming from. There is not a problem with petrol consumption as I have kept a close eye on this.

   Have you checked the condition of the gearbox fluid?It should be a pinky/red colouration it could just be a bit of wear in the box as mine sometimes does it.
