Another ebay wonder chip, or not!?

    clicky

    yey or ney?

if its good i wouldnt mind 11bhp for £80 lol

but i got a feel its a load of shit
  2. #2
looks real matey. id ask around though. seems the figures for torque are quite high though!
  3. #3
I'd be sceptical of any chips on Ebay there's one for £4.99 claiming 20+ bhp so its probably the same chip, the bloke has more than likely just bumped the price up to try and gain some creditabilty.
  4. #4
i would prob say its crap as its ebay but you never know
  5. #5
11 bhp from a "chip" thats not mapped to your car or modifications! Come on guys its a narturally aspirated 1.4 8v, power does not come cheap from it!
  6. #6
I cant believe some people even consider these chips.
  7. #7
Yeh get it! It does work. You'll notice the power increase in an instant. You'll be able to take on anything on the roads... NOT!!!

    Erhhh!?!

I wouldn't fancy ripping my ECU apart to fit one of these things either and I cant see any garages/compaines wanting to fit it either.

    dont bother bud
  10. #10
Waste of money in my opinion.
  11. #11
Yeah but Magneti Marelli are a reputable company within the Motorsport industry.
  12. #12
Wouldent like an induction kit do roughly the same for about the same price???
  13. #13
its not made by magneti marelli, it just works with that ecu.

An induction kit will not gain you 11bhp on a furio

Ok ignore me i dont have a clue! How much would it roughly?
  15. #15
maybe 1bhp at the wheels if your lucky?
depending on the filter, you can lose performance through "induction kits" x
  16. #16
I gained around +2bhp (at the fly) from a BMC induction kit.

its quite simple really, a chip on its own will no pretty much nothing, the std ecu has alot of control built in to allow it alot of flexibility (you change the exhaust, air filter etc and the ecu adjusts to the new settings) a "chip" which is not mapped to your car will just guess the values based on someone elses car (for the persons car it was mapped on it was probably very good, but thats not to say it will work as well on yours, its the same when you buy a remapped ecu from jamsport and the cams it was mapped on, its a good start but its not the same engine so would still need a remap (although it will be alot closer than a generic chip ever would)

id stay away with static chips, and either get a unichip where the operator (and unichip) will not charge you a penny if you dont get a gain, or a remap, but neither is worth it unless you have a few mods.

    thought so, another mystery solved!

Yeah, but their name is still on it. Thats what Im getting at.
  21. #21
end of the day places like dastek etc wouldnt charge 250+ to remap it if you could get it for £80

    think about it

After speaking with a local tuning garage this chip is just the same as a superchip its the programming you are paying for and not the chip itself as they are only pennys to buy so if this guy has a eprom burner then all it would take is for him to make a copy from a superchip and right his own program to the eprom chip making some changes if he knows what he is doing so this may do something but they are very hard to fit and something you cant do yourself unless you are a dab hand at soldering iron also this will require your immobiliser coding to be transfered from the orignal chip wich will set you back 60-100 quid then fitting you could be looking at another £50 so i believe this is why they are so cheap you would be looking at a realistic figure to buy and install would be around £200

the chip clips in and clips out (not all chips are soldiered) so a numpty could do it, also the ecu is made my MM, the chip is not. Therefore MM does not have its name on the chip (hence why superchips are called super"chips" and not super"ecus")
  24. #24
Hi mate you have to solder the socket carrier in to the ecu as the standard chip is a directly soldered in
  25. #25
not on all ecus, even so its still not worth it. (there is bound to be some numpty that tries it and ferks his ecu and has to buy a new one)
