Whining under acceleration?

  1. #1
Hi, I've done a search on this and it seems like my trust bearing might be going or gone?
Firstly when I engage the clutch it sweaks?
Then when I accelerate a whining sort of noise appears, its not the wheel bearing cause it only comes about when I accelerate?
Finally sometimes after I've been driving a while when I engage the cluctch and slow down a strange noise come from the gearbox/clutch, its hard to decribe sort of like a noise you would get if you lost power?

Anyway sorry for all the info. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

    Thanks

My release bearing went and it was more of a loud rattle when the clutch wasn't pressed in sat at the lights. Gearboxes do whine when they are on there way out.

If it turns out to be the box just run it till it goes tbh.

Then get an S box or something better and a good clutch n change both at the same time (if the clutch needs doing)

Have you checked your gearbox oil levels?

You have to unscrew the filler plug on the left hand end of the gearbox and if its near max level you should see the oil on the lower edge of the filler hole (According to the haynes manual) lol

check your offside driveshaft bearing, the one which bolts to the back of the block, when these are shot they cause noise under load. if it isnt that then most likely the gearbox at fault
