Need Some advice on a Cat n Downpipe.

Which one do I need, is it closed couple Cat ? I have a VTR mk2 Y reg 2001

Also best place to buy one.... I've had a look on ebay and they're going for between £69 - £100.

I dont want to decat at the minute (in case you were wondering) my current downpipe is rusty but I think the cat needs doing too as i Just about passed an MOT not so long back.
Besides, im sure the cat and dp is one part isnt it?

Its either that or I just go to an exhaust centre (Not kwikfit) and see what they say... What you think ?

is your cat not under the car, separate to the down pipe? or are vtr's different to most other saxo's/106's

not sure with Y reg but easy way to tell just open the bonnet and look at the downpipe if its fat and has 4 bolts joining the top part of the manifold then its close coupled cat, if not then you need the under floor cat, I think 3 plug ecu is the close coupled cat but not totally sure with the cross over years

Yeah its definately the cat in the mani, Not under the car like the mark one... But i just want to make sure whereever i get it, its the right one.

Also, basically what i should have said is... are the ones off egay any good. Or to be avoided ? Cause some are more expensive than others.

y reg's are 2001 so will defo have cat in mani,

cheap cats are useless only las a max 6 months,

for example i get trade discount a parkers a bosal cat £150 + van and a pro + one 75+vat,

personally i would get the bosal one cause it has more of a chance of lasting more than 18 months,

Well ive got a quote coming to me soon from my regular spanner man. So ill see what he says.

I just want something thats going to seal my unit up nice as i have a stainless steel catback system but with a fairly bad blow from the downpipe. Just dont want to de cat with a manifold at the min because I fear it might be too loud.

Apart from the blow in the dp the system actually sounds just perfect with the cat on.

    Euro Car PArts.
I got a cat and lambda sensor for £72. Think their MK2 downpipe cat was about £52 when i was there last month.
