Gearbox question

   Is there any way of knowing if a gearbox is good without putting it in a car as my mate wants to buy a spare 1.1 box i have from a car I broke a while back but I don't know if its any good as the car was a none runner that it came out of, if not i'll just let him try it and give me the cash if it works, cheers

   The shaft on the inside middle is it loose and has play init, also check clucth fork is nice and smooth.

   its a start but does not guarantee anything. The only way is to fit it and drive it.
