What does this bit do?

    Very noob question but I have no idea what this is...

    It's on the inside of the door where the hinges are on the car frame...



    What is/was it?

    Door swicth so when you open door that comes out and your interior light comes on.

    Oh.
    I took it out and lost the wire inside... ah well, who needs the interior light anyway?
