passenger door is difficult to close

  1. #1
nearly everytime someone gets out the passenger side, they try and shut the door but never quite closes unless you slam it. very annoying.

the drivers side is fine but on the passenger side its like its just really stiff and difficult to close without slamming. anyone else had this problem? solution?

Mine is the exact same, I've tried re-greasing/WD40ing all the bits on it etc but it just doesn't wanna shut with ease!
I'm guessing that it's hanging low slightly so I'll probably take the door off and re put it back on with new brackets/bolts to see if that does anything, but atm it's not a huge bother so I'm delaying fixing it as much as possible haha.

Let me know if you find a fix though so I could double check that

Adjust the door striker on the b post out by a few mm.

on the B pillar there is a catch for the door to latch on to. use a torx bit (think the size is T20) and loosen the bolts a touch, move it either forwards or backwards and tighten bolts back up.
just keep playing around with it until your happy

thanks for your help man but where is the b pillar? what part am i loosening? pics will help! haha

to make it easyer then the catch that the lock on the door locks onto on the shell of the car lol. the b pillar is the pillar next to your head when your sat in the car (the piller of metal that separates the windows

right ok cheers mate got ya. i dont think that its the lock thats the problem though as to why the door is so difficult to open and close, its got to be the hinge. this bit is really stiff, its not the lock that makes it hard to shut, its the fact that the door doesnt really swing freely/properly:

b pillars other side lol. but if thats stiff just give it a massive dose of wd40
  13. #13
yeah i know its on the other side now lol, where the lock is. but thats not where the problem is its to do with the hinges im certain.

as nathan hxc has said at the top hes tried wd40 but no luck. will give it a try but again like nath said it does seem like the door is hanging low or something

the pic isnt my car just the only pic i could find with an open door. any one else had this problem? its doing my head in and seems to be getting worse

Sure if the hinge has snap in side . the will open far to much . (not catching at all .... see if the mettle in the middle of open door see if you can move it with out the moving the door m8.

Haha! Yeah, good one unfortunately it's all of my passengers that need to be looking at this!

Should be an easy fix going on the picture you submitted, the check-strap bolts tend to come lose and the door becomes hard to close without lifting it an inch or so.
Tighten the bolts holding the strap in place and use a copper grease to seal and lubricate all fixings on the door.
Should be problem solved unless its a seized hinge.

Clean off the hinges and grease. Mine does the same, loosens up on wet roads as theres no splashguards

right ok i shall give that a go soon cheers
