MK1 VTR dials problem

    right when i start my car the fuel gage reads how much fuel i have but then it slowly rises till it gets to the top and stays there or sometimes it just goes straight to the top ive only got about a £10 worth of fuel in

    also when i press my cig lighter in the dial backlight goes dim, both indicator arrows stay on and the lights for dipped headlight + front and rear fog also my temp gage goes right to the top and my speedo and rev counter freeze
    then when the cig lighter finnishes warming and pops out the dials go back to normal

    has anyone had this before

    Sounds like an earthing issue to me

    ill second that, try get a set of clocks off a friend to test them incase its the clock wireing

    its weird bcos today it stoped and all working apart from fuel gage stay at the bottom
