Brake Bias ??

This may be a silly question, but if you lower your car do you need to adjust the brake bias. And if so why and how.

    Cheers for any advice. Matt.

why- if you don't adjust it then the valve acts as if the rear of the car is loaded and apllies increased pressure to the rear brakes, meaning the rears lock easily under braking and also lock before the fronts do, not good on a wet corner or at all in fact.
how- two springs on the rear beam, one big and one small. small one provides the rear brakes with a small amount of pressure under normal braking, large one is to adjust. when the rear is lowered the large spring is compressed and this applies the excessive pressure. just slacken it off and drive the car until you're happy that the car won't swap ends under heavy braking ie the rears no longer lock up first.

Thats got me thinking now, i had my car lowered by a garage, but i wonder if they adjusted my brakes. shudda done i wudda thort, maybe just worth a look tho.

very doubtful that they changed the bias, i need to adjust mine but im to lazy at the moment

so how exactly do u adjust them, how do you know how far too slacken them?

the large spring has two parts, one of which threads into the other. use some vice grips and a 10mm spanner (might be 13mm) to slacken it. if it's seized then take wd40 and a rubber mallet to it. slacken it, drive the car on a straight and even road then brake hard until the car doesn't feel like it wants to swap ends.

just make sure there is about 10mm travel in the larger spring, dont touch the smaller one

i just happen to have a pic :
