engine management light after injector change

  1. #1
now i know iv wrote an essay but i wanted to give as much info as poss.

ok i had a misfire problem (no management light on)so took a look at injectors and had one blocked.
bought 4 second hand ones off here with rail. changed them onto my car and at 1st they only did a slight burst then nothing. nothing came out from turning the key. so left it and tried again the next day, again another quick burst then nothing. tried my old injectors and rail (with the 1 blocked injector) they fired nothing like the new(2nd hand ones). changed back to the 2nd hand ones again and left em in. next day tried again only this time the engine management light had come on and all 4 where firing how i think they should be. was testing the injectors in a bucket so i could see they where firing. i had no coil pack connected during the tests or spark plugs in the block along with no air intake on the car. but when all 4 injectors started to fire i put all car back together.
tried it with the engine back together and engine management light still on and also the misfire but sounds a lil different (at the time of the tests before i put car back together i had de-cat pipe on but put the cat back on before the test with engine built back up). obv the exhaust note is different due to the cat now on instead of de-cat but the engine itself has a deep kinda tone to it now. still shaking like the original misfire problem but just sounds different and as mentioned the management light is on. the revs now build up slower than it did before original misfire with the 1 blocked injector. now i know these injectors work as iv seen them spraying into the bucket.
the battery has been playing up also threw the whole process but iv had that charged up and no different. (although when all 4 injectors decided to fire that time the battery was low as could hear the car struggle).

    sparkplugs are all firing also.
    new lambda sensor.
    tried a friends coil pack.

any help pleeeeaaaseeee guys will be much appreciated
cars been off road now for 3 months and its really stressing me out now

Buy yourself a cheap lexia-3 fault code reader & see what that throws up mate.

hmmmm just been reading up on net possabilitys and iv come across 2 threads on here that say a blocked cat can run lumpy. now my cat been sat in shed for a couple of months due to the de-cat being on.
now when i seen all 4 injectors fire in the bucket when i put engine back together i put the cat back on before i tried it. so could this be a posibility?

mind you engine management light 1st came on when i seen the injectors fire in the bucket so maybe not arrrrrrrrrrrrrr

    oh couple more pointers:

if i unplug the temp sensor it changes nothing.

when the fuel pump primes sometimes it does it quite long, sometimes does it a short while.

did you remember to bleed the fuel rail????

Dude your pissing in the wind with an ECM light on just changing bits, loads of people on here just go changing parts without checking, if a ECM light is on when a car comes into work first thing you do is plug it in and rip the code off to see what its comming up with then you have a place to start, just pay the £20 odd for someone to come and read the fault for you. have you compression tested the engine and are you 100% sure that none of the injectors are blocked, all plugs are firing and that you have put everything back together properlly?

yeah everything is back how it should be. the ecm light didnt come on untill the new injectors, i had a misfire and replaced all sorts then found the blocked injector, then the light came on, all 4 injectors are now firing.

If the problem was injectors and you have changed them but its still misfiring its either not been done right or your problem wasnt the injector

the injector was blocked. i tested them in a bucket. got some more injectors off here with rail. they fired when tested in the bucket. put in engine and seems to still have a misfire but in a different way. plugs are all firing, iv tried another working coil pack, changed lambda sensor, fuel filter (all before i found the 1 blocked injector and replaced them). but with the firing injectors came the management light.

    just had the phone call

was the coil pack. strange because i tried a mates. the guy at the garage said its because it would have had a different colour plug so wouldnt have worked. my mates was exactly same engine as mine but a mk1 but mines the early phase 2 with the mk1 engine. anyways hes sorted it but £75 :O hes just gone and done the work without asking if he wants me to go ahead with him changing it. i could have got a used 1 for a tenner and fitted it myself so im not happy about that. happy its sorted tho

running as sweet as a nut now cant believe it was as something as simple as coil pack. did have the 1 blocked injector that i replaced to. so seems was a couple of issues. anyways its sorted now ta for the help guys
