Light flywheel

Right i blew my diff on my VTS box, so have a low miles vts box.

whilsit changing it, i am changing the clucth and driveshafts as both have taken a good beating since i owned the car.
I am thinking of boosting the car over the winter, is it worth fitting a lightend flywheel while the box is off? thinking of getting the atspeed one? I just take it they wheel make the car revs a lot faster

i built a 1440cc mini some years ago and light'ned and balanced every thing i could afford the pick up response was awesome, worth every £££. don't know how much you would gain on a already good modern car but if you can afford it try it...

I have a lightened one on my VTR, makes h&t a lot easier as revs pick up a lot quicker.
My other half drives the car sometimes and she stalls it sometimes parking and she never used to.
I'd say it's worth it if you dont do a lot of city driving as it does make it a bit more hard work when sat in traffic.

As above not very good for city driving, very noticeable tho as the revs dompickmup a lot quicker but they also drop off a lot quicker there's no weight to keep it spinning.

I've got a helix flywheel forsale for 200 that fits a vts still basically new hasn't covered a lot of miles

TTV race components, that's prob where atspeed get them...

Other than needing to have more accurate clutch use I feel theres not really a disadvantage to these. Certainly not with standard size clutches.

110% fit one - get the ATSpeed light one

Just makes the engine so much more responsive and eager to rev!

This is the next thing for my Integra, apparently they rev like motorbikes with a lighter one lol I was trying to work out how much rotational mass you would lose with a lighter one, but got tired and fell asleep instead. Would have been interesting to find out what the result would have been.

    What about aiding traction?

i have a lightened flywheel and it does help the rev pickup a bit. the thing i noticed is there isnt as much engine braking as im used to

sorry I dont understand. Rotational mass has no direct relationship to tyre traction

Lightened fly's best advantage in my opinion is the downshifts, the lightest blip of the throttle with the side of your foot and your away!

I wish I had money to build my 205. I think the clutch and flywheel together are only 2 kg. Maybe next year..

Are you sure? A heavier f'wheel has more inertia so would take longer to slow down.
