serious engine problem

   have had this prooblem for about a week now, what happens is im driving and there is a sudden power loss and when i accelerate the revs go up on the dial as usual, but there is no real acceleration, it would then kick in (accelerate as normal), and every 5 mins it would happen. When i pulled over the idle was very low and lumpy as well. ._.
   
   now this was happening at the beginning of the week, so i serviced it and hoped that it was the spark plugs. I replaced everything for the service eg oil filter, fuel filter ect... i thought this fixed the problem as i drove it down to brightown (30mile round trip), then to college and work and it was fine. then i was driving it last night and it started doing the same thing again.
   
   my mate said it might be an air leak from a pipe?
   
   if this is the case, how do i go about finding the leak and fixing it?

   pressure test.. or having a listen under.. or check for visual split everywhere, seems to me its only when its warm?

   yeah maybe its when its hot. allthough i did drive a long way the other day and it was fine, so thats really is stumping me...

   same is happening to mine mate but not as regular its at the garage atm so when its back ill let you know if a good service has done anything

   what you getting done at the garage? Cause I though a good service would fix my problem but I didnt..... ._.
   
   Any one else had this sort of problem?

   Does the problem happen when the car is hot?If so it`s a good sign your coil pack is fubbered mate.

   right so i bought a new coilpack, waiting to come through the post.
   
   but anyway i went to my mechanic friend and he sais that if a new coilpack doesnt solve it then i could be that my head gaskets gone.
   
   could this be it ? as its an intermittent problem, ( like explained at the top ) ?
   
   hope fully the coilpack will come tomoz and ill keep you updated

   Same sort of thing happened to mine earleir in the the year, where i would randomly lose power, I had my coil pack changed and new spark plugs, and that sorted it!

    so i was in boxhill and my car started to idle funny and do the thing explained at the top i.e drive slow ect. so i changed my coilpack and guess what; it stopped! but the orange engine light stayed on......
    
    im going to go on a short drive when its still hot and see what happens.....

    changed my coilpack and my car runs fine now. no probelms whatsoever. XD
