Pas - update new pump no action!

  1. #1
    EDIT:

Right I've not put a new power steering pump on, with new loom, etc and still nothing!? My heaters blow hot, and as far as im aware the rear demister works so I could still do with some help... I'm guessing people are gonna say Power steering rack?

    Any help is greatful!

*Note: PAS isn't brand new its 2nd hand but it its been tested and works.

    --------------------------------

Right my Power Steering isn't working...

Its got new fluid in, and the pump is brand new a few months ago (NOTE: Wasnt working when i bought the car and was already fitted to the car, just have a reciept saying it was done..)

I've checked the connections and all seem fine to my liking, so what else could it be?

Update: To give more info, there is power to the pump cause I can hear it doing something but just making a sort of rattle with a bit of a whine ish?

I may try get a video tomorrow and see if you can shed more light

Still not working, I think the pump has ran with no fluid tbh as car was stood and no fluid in it when I bought it so I'm guessing it will be fucked if its been drove with no fluid?

There is power to the pump but its making a funny noise like a bit of a rattle/whine?

    Is your heater blower working?

If they have both packed up then i know what the fault is.

It works on all 3 settings, not sure if it blows hot as havn't ran the car long enough for it to yet lol.

If your heaters blowing fine it's not the same problem i had, i would say pas pump. Another common fault due to weathering.

Yeah they seem to be ok mate, and I can hear power going to the pump just no action.

That noise is your fuel pump relay buzzing,to the op there is a grey relay for the pas sometimes these are faulty. Not 100% sure where they are located though.

Already tried that aswell mate, relay comes off the pump loom, which I've changed, using both (working) relays that I have.

Have you checked the loom for breaks?

The loom is working or the pump wouldn't have power going to it? How is the pump connected to the rack? As I think the problem may lie here.

Not sure if the rack would go as never known many saxos to have the steering rack done?

Follow your power steering pipes back from the pump to the rack not sure what connections citroen used as standard though.

Everything should be fine I really don't understand.

Another question, when I turn the wheels to the left, or right, the fluid level goes down a bit and back up when central does this not show that there is fluid all round etc?

All I can say my levels remain the same mate.

if the fluid level goes up and down. It indicates that there is air trapped in the power steering pipes. They will need bleeding again. Section 10.16 of the haynes manual explains the procedure for this. wishing you luck with this. Took me ages to get the air out of the system.

I did think this to be honest as there are bubbles after a bit of turning of the wheels.

May need to do this over the weekend and see how far I get, and thanks for giving the chapter of the book, very helpful.
