Do i need a heat shield on my alternator ?

   No saxo came with a heatshield on it mate, it will be fine.

   I'd say yes get one.
   
   I've got a 4-2-1 and the alternator gets real hot with the heat shield on. This is my 4th alternator.. they don't seem to like alot of high rpm's before they give up.

   Mk2s are more vulnerable to heat from an aftermarket manifold usually the racelands, although not in all cases. If its fine as it is now then why do you need one?

    I took mine off when fitting my manifold, and yes it's a raceland!. I better get one asap as i don't fancy buying a new alternator.

    I got a raceland 4-1 mani on mine, and not a alternator heat sheild its fine and has been for about 6-7 months now, what it does do though is keep fucking my rocker cover gaskets.
