Suspension Advice.....

Hi guys, I'm thinking of lowering my VTR, but don't want to exceed 35mm or so as quite a few speedbumps on my estate, I'm unsure what kit to go for, and also a mate told me i have a vts rear axle conversion as my brakes on the back are discs and pads, as opposed to shoes, will that make a difference to the lowering kit I get or will i be ok with a normal set? Thanks for any help!

No wont make a difference as you adjust the torsion bars in the beam.

Apex kit is best value for money on a budget.

vtr's came with rear discs, and lowering the back is the same for every saxo/106, wether its got discs or drums

I had read somewhere about the eibach springs and bilstein shocks, are they better than the apex?

Bilstein dampers are yeh. Eibach springs are better, but I dont like the eibach springs supplied in the kit with the bilstein dampers theyre underated.

If you can afford it you cannot go too wrong with the Bilstein B6 and Eibach Pro-kit springs. It will lower the car 20-25mm but with only a slightly firmer ride than standard. Most people prefer the Bilstein B8 + Eibach Spring combination. The Bilstein B8 dampers are high quality monotube inserts and give a firm but controlled ride. The Eibach Sportline Springs are progressive. Initial spring rate is 80lb which soaks up the bumps nicely but as the spring is compressed with hard driving the springrate goes up to 240lb
Its a bit lower but just go more carefully over the speedhumps!

On a budget (most people are nowadays) then I personally do not think there is better than the Apex 25mm lowering kit for the VTR and VTS. Gives a better quality ride than most budget kits, is firm and reliable

if u need to go over speed bumps go slow nd over at a angle

Or shove a plough on the front of the car and its playtime

I have the 40mm Apex kit on my VTR atm and i have no problems with 'sleeping policemen' and as said there cheap and actually pretty comfortable compared to the eibach's on my old VTS

Money talks at the end of the day mate, if i could afford better id buy better
