Windscreen washer not working!

  1. #1
Hi all, i have got my MOT in a week or so, and my windscreen washers have stoped working? i have topped up the fluid and looked for blockages along the pipe but cant see anything? any ideas what this would be and how much to fix?
will this be an MOT fail also? im thinking it proberly will be!

    Thanks in advance.

yes it is a fail, checked fuse?, can you hear the pump? if not its possible pump has given up, fix under £20 assuming you just need to replace pump 20p if its a fuse

Can you hear the pump whirring, but no water coming out? Or is it completely dead?

Sounds like your pump has buggered buddy. The wipers rely on the same fuse as the pump if I remember correctly, so they wouldn't work if the fuse was gone. As Deks said it should only be about £20 for a new pump, may be less depending where you get it - eBay, scrappy, etc.

He just said the pump doesn't work, and as far as I know you can just clean washer jets.

there are 2 or 3 different types of washer pump on saxos, being so near a cross over this may be te incorrect one (as the one pictured is the earlier type) worst case is to chop the plug and rewire really..

actually the one in the picutre is the later type early one had a brown plug i think held on with metal clip, where as later type has black plug with plastic clip
