Another clutch issue...

  1. #1
I've tried searching and not found my answer so here is my issue.

My biting point is right on the floor.
First gear is un-selectable. To the point I'm scared of snapping the lever.
Second is hard to select but it goes in.
    3,4,5 are ok.
Reverse crunches but goes in with a swift slam.

So do I need to tighten or loosen the cable to bring the bite up?

Also is my gear selection issue linked to my low bite or maybe a gear linkage issue?

    Many thanks in advance.

Sounds like you need a new thrust bearing, but have someone else to confirm to be sure.

As the others have pointed out, there could be an underlying issue. To answer your original question though, you tighten the clutch cable to raise the bite.

Cheers. I'll raise the bite first then and see how that goes. I'm thinking maybe the bite is that low that I'm not fully engaging the clutch. And that this is my problem. Might be dreaming with that idea though!

I raised the bite about halfway up the pedal travel. Problem solved. well chuffed
