engine bay

I have a saxo forte and wanna spruce it up a little.

What can i clean up and spray /or something in the engine bay to make it look a little smarter?

Spray the rocker cover with high temperature gloss spray - same for the pipes and tubing. Could re-spray the original car colour inside the bay including the struts. Carb cleaner does wonders apparently, I've yet to use it myself but I think it's time to!

    ..and that's a 1.0L!

Spray rocker, get some colour coded split loom / insulation tape for wires and stuff, strut brace, nice einduction kit, carbon / stainless covers for things like the battery, ECU, oil filler cap etc - nice shiny 4-2-1 manifold and just give the engine bay a general clean

Loads you can do, just depends how much you want to spend but the induction / manifold give more power and noise as well as looking nice so it's win-win

I'm quite interested in this thread as well mind, because although I've recommended what to do with the engine bay, I'm not sure where to start with! So yeah, what's the best to start with removing 12 years of grime from an engine bay?

I would be able to clean it all up but i want to know how to paint a bit up to make the bay look a little impressive.

what to paint and how too?

Think there is a guide on here somewhere, coloured split loom is really cheap, and electrical tape in red or blue or whatever is also very cheap and perfect for wrapping wires to make them look better

If your engine bay is caked in shit, use some paraffin. Used it to clean the engine bay and engine in my R5GTT; the oil/grease just fell off.

Its dead cheap for a gallon too.

    > Strut brace - £40
    > Insulation tape in red - £1 (Also gives extra protection to wires etc as well as look good)
    > Pipercross induction kit - £15
    > Good clean - £free

Doesn't cost a lot, need to get the rocker sorted and some other bits but it's getting there

Found a guide wasnt too good, but sed abut the gasket splitting because of the torque of the bolts and oil leaking if not tight enough
