Boiling over

  1. #1
Hey guys got a weird one here rebuilt the engine on the saxo had new bits and bobs attached to it and i bled the water system i noticed dripping under the car popped the bonnet and noticed water coming from the radiator cap undid and the water was over flowing, anyone know whats going on with this? when the engine is cool the water level is at the bottom of the expansion bottle. when i rebuilt it i put a hose pipe through the thermostat end to flush the system through so know there is no blockage and the cabin gets hot so know the thermostat opens, what im worried about is when im driving its going to just build up loads of pressure and eventually pop something,

    any ideas?

You have used coolant and not just water?

yeah 50 to 50 as i had a load in the garage, also when the engine is off when i look in the bottle its like the water level is breathing no bubbles just going up and down, weird

    Possibly air in the system.
Theres a sticky here somehere about the bleed points

could be hole in rad..drain then flush then use rad weld

Sounds like an air lock to me.Did you fill and bleed it properly? I recommend the header tank method.
One to consider is it could be a leaky head gasket pressuring the system but check the easy stuff first

Hey guys thanks for the replys, monday im gonna go get a new radiatior i did the head gasket when i rebuilt it the radiator looks like a pattern part so gonna get an original one then do the bleeding again with the header tank then stick up a progress report with some nice pictures lol
