When my car is at a stand still, + the clutch is up the car makes a strange whistling noise, like its pushing air out sort of noise. But when I push the clutch down it stops + sounds normle, any answers to this problem? Thanks

are you sure its not squeaky rather than a whistle? it could be release bearing?

Same problem here, it's the release bearing :/ I'm just going to wait until it REALLY needs changing. It isn't that annoying, and you can barely hear it. Pointless spending all that money when the current one could last for months and months.

Or it could completely fall apart knacker the clutch totally and possibly put a hole in the gearbox as a result

A release bearing wont fall apart and ruin the whole clutch and put a hole in the gearbox. 1 in a 100,000 chance of that happening

I've seen a few fall apart and damage the clutch on citroens and peugeots, never seen one put a hole In the box but it is a possibility.
