1 locking wheel nut causing grief!

    As above,

Key was shit - had prongs that were already fucked and then went up shit creek without a paddle and broke completely.

As I have today off work I want to get this fucker off - I have already tried welding a bar to it, a socket to it and a bolt to it - but i am just not a good enough welder to get it to butt correctly.

I have tried knocking a socket on it - it just spins.

I am thinking of blow torching it shortly and trying a smaller socket yet.

I have another strut that I may just swap over to make my life easier If i can get it off. but obviously would have to take the driveshaft out from the gearbox - I am trying to avoid doing this at home as It would be easier at work. But time isnt being my friend - so how stiff is it usually to get out?

    who recomends what?

Get a good mig welder nice nut and fill the center of nut with weld onto your wheel nut, and fook all locking wheel nuts off, noone pinches wheels now, if they want anything theyl have the car.

    Psnot a shitty DIY welder

NSF driveshaft, ive never taken one out of a saxo + my lever bars are at work :/

It should just pull out quite easily tbh and with regards to locking wheel nuts I would remove them all and get a decent set. I had problems with two (standard ones) on mine and have opted to get rid due to poor quality of them.

Yeah I dont run them normally, just bought the car a week or so ago, Ill get a prog thread up but Its fucking me off just having a nsf silver vtr wheel lol! But yeah whoever designed them can suck a door matt!

I have a pretty good mig - Im just not too good at welding - I think that whoever put the wheel on hadnt used copper grease and hasnt removed the wheels for a while as some of the wheel bolts snapped when removing them - so the locking nut is being a fucker, when i welded last time It would hold up until i was putting enough force to crack the bolt but the weld gave way first. Think i may just take the whole strut out + driveshaft (obviously) and swap them over.

Im just holding off coz it will be soo much easier if I get this bolt out!

can you not drill into it and then tap it the opposite way to if that makes sense and then chuck in a screw and nut then try that way might work or just drill the fucker out

Im pretty sure it a steel bolt not alloy though smacking a socket into it isnt doing much to the face of it.

I giggled, sorry. Shit out of luck, were these metal drill bits or you used some wood ones?

it'll be in too tight to be able to undo by any other means than a wrench I would imagine.

If all else fails oxycetalyne (fuck know how to spell that) torch will sort it out, had to do that to my first one

You read my mind.... funnily enough i dont have any of that at home

Maybe blowtorch and a bigger hammer + chisel/punch

I may even put on my american impression and sue the maker of locking wheel nuts

Both - wood bits didn't stand a chance though - even my big drill that goes to 550 nm wouldnt do shit without the bit breaking

that's because it builds temperature too quickly, expands then breaks. I think your only 2 options left is go buy some proper drill bits for metal of take your car to a wheel shop.

Though if you made a bit of a hole in the nut you could try welding a bolt on it again and it might hold.

hammer & chisel is the best thing you can use at home imo

right im going to heat the fucker up and try all of above with it hot even if i can snap it off, i have another hub +disc i can use!
