Remote locking fob

I hope this is in the right section, if not please feel free to move it mods.

Anyway, I have owned my 2001 (Y reg) VTR for 18 months and in that time I have replaced the battery in the key fob 4 times. It's all totally standard equipment, no aftermarket alarms etc. Is this normal or is there something draining the power? Has anybody else had this problem?

By the way, I always use Duracell batteries and the remote works fine once the battery has been replaced.

    Thanks
    Jack

don't leave your keys in your pocket all the time. Either that or a bad contact inside

I don't leave them in my pocket very often. I have also cleaned up the battery contacts. Any other ideas?

not really, never heard of that problem before. The battery should normally last years. I'm wondering if the click on switch stays stuck inside.

That's what I thought, thanks for the help though.

Honestly all I can think off is a sticky switch.

It doesn't seem to be sticking at all. It's a really weird problem!

have you tried to push the switches while it was open? It is indeed weird.

Yep. I took it apart, cleaned all the dust and crap out in June iirc, (changed the battery as well) and the buttons were working fine then. Now the battery is flat again!
