Rear drum beam

  1. #1
My 1.1 just failed the MOT because the trailing arm has to much play.

"N/SR Radius arm has excessive play in a pin/bearing"

The guy said it's probably best to replace the whole beam, but its lowered 40mm-60mm on the rear. Would I have to buy one that's lowered or get it re lowered? Or does anyone have any other ideas? Might just get rid of the car

    Thankss

Contact IM Axles for a refurbished beam includes lowering in the price.

Dont buy a second hand axle as they often dont last long and you have wasted time and labour or theyre already fucked, therefor wasting time n money fitting a shit axle.

If you sell the car are you going to get another saxo or 106? If the beam is the only problem on this one id jut replace it with a refurbished one. You could buy another car and have a whole host of problems where as the one you have now is tip top apart from the beam.

    you have 3 choices

    1. buy a 2nd hand beam and get it re-lowered ( or leave as is)
    2. try and find one that is ready lowered the correct way
    3. give IM axels a call and get a re-furbed one that is lowere to the correct height

Thanks for the help. Do you know roughly how much a refurbished one would be? In a rush as I have 10 days to get one before I have to pay for another MOT. Just been looking on ebay and found:
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/saxo-vtr-v...item1e67ac4445
Only thing is its missing a brake pipe and got 1 handbrake cable? I phoned the guy he said the brushes and bearings looked perfect and the pads looked new.

Ohh and if I sell it I don't know what I'd get, something cheap that hopefully wont break.

    Thanks again

Ask him to add into the listing that the bearings and bushes are all good. Then if you get it and find out theyre not you have put in a paypal claim and get a refund.

If he dosent then it a risk, you could get it and it lasts a week or it might be fucked already.

Ok I'll ask him as I don't really know what to look for to check if they're are good or not. Also do you know if the other two parts that are missing are easy to get (break pipe and handbreak line ? Or if I take the beam back to the garage maybe they will have them or order them in? Cheers sorry about all the questions
