My VTR failed the MOT test yesterday , I need a new rear axle. Does anybody know how much it's going to cost for a new one (including fitting) please?

    Cheers

Thank you for your answer. I've just had a look on your website (the advert popped up on this website...), your price seems honest, however, I've just rang the garage where the car is and they priced £320 for a second hand one fitted (not reconditioned though) and I'm trying to spend the least possible so I will go for the the second hand one.

Thanks again for the price though, it's always good to have something to compare.

    Cheers

dont get a second hand 1 un- reconditioned or you will be in same boat couple months down the line and 320 is to much for that

to be honest, i dont think i could spend nearly 500 on a reconditioned axel for my car. thats half the value of the car lol

I'd chance it with a second hand one as they are widely available from here, 106owners, ebay, scrap yards etc. and can be had for about £100. £320 is quite steep as its not the worst job in the world replacing one.

only thing with a 2nd hand one though is the possibility of it being crap aswell so check beforehand!

I know, thanks. Hopefully in a couple of months the car won't be mine anymore. The garage where the axle is fitted is doing the MOT re-test. All I'm bothered about is that it doesn't fail and it's their problem not mine because they fit the axle.

Anybody looking for a mk2 VTR?

Thanks for your advice though, I think you're right. I'd do that if only I intended to keep the car for longer but it'll be gone soon, hopefully...

A refurb will always be the best option obviously but you could be lucky with a second hand one, pick it up for £100, fit it youself and it lasts for several years.....you could be unlucky however and go through several beams in a few months and you may as well have got a refurb in the first place

I've just picked mine back up after having rear axle replaced, bought one off here for £100 with uprated mountings and £240 to fit but that included having the usual places on boot and under ecu welded
