Running rich

   Hi my car went in for a mot the other week and failed on the emissions after finally getting it through (cat was leaking) I found the car was running very rich.
   
   Standing at the back of the car the fumes smell very rich is this normal? It also seems to be using a fair bit of fuel.

   has it been serviced recently?
   and if the cat was leaking then the lambda sensor will be sending false readings to the ECU causing it to push more fuel in if it thinks there is more air than fuel hence causing the overfuel
   
   get the cat changed and it should sort itself out dude

   Does it kick out a lot of white-ish fumes or smoke?

   The cat was leaking around the gasket and was fixed. Thanks for advice tho
   
   @gandi yeh not loads of White smoke but does kick put a little bit.
