Replaced Power steering pump, still nothing...

Hello, my power steering has been making noises and being generally crap the past few weeks so i went off to the scrappy to buy another pump. Replaced the whole lot today and ive still got no power steering :/

First off, my heaters and that are all fine so its not the ignition issue. Is it possibly the relay or a fuse? I was thinking that maybe something has blown because the pump was struggling to work.

A mate of mine will be round later so i might borrow his relay to test.

    Any other ideas?

    Another knackered pump??

Did you get any sort of guarentee with it??

Nope, but it seems unlikely that both would be buggered, chances are slim. The pump didnt do anything at all when i started the engine, no noise, nothing. Strange...

There`s a red pas pump relay check that.

Red one? Where abouts? I've found that massive grey one, going to swap that with my mate if he ever gets here haha. Is it normal for relays to fail following issues with equipment?

The relay was fine, tested another one. However after i took it for a 6 mile drive the pump finally kicked in. Been working fine since. Thought i'd add this point just incase anyone has the same problem

You might just have not bled the system enough.. The drive probably did that for you lol

might not be related the power steering on my saxo didn't enjoy working when i had a dodgy battery on the car there was enough power to start the car and drive but power steering didn't want to play ball, replaced the battery and all was good since

Might have to try the battery then as the new power steering pump i have on now is working intermittently. Although a bloke i know told me that the wires can go a bit green and loose good connections, could be that.

Try this for a ponder...driving along one day, power steering goes...windows...lights...dash...indicators...all just stop working, pull over, check all the fuses, nothing blown, start the car, drive the car home, pull on to the driveway and it all starts working again...random

Couldnt that have something to do with the ignition? Ive heard a few people go on about it on here when the steering, heater blower and dash goes. Theres a guide knocking about somewhere too but unfortunately ive got a different problem...

The chances aren't as slim as you think, saxo pumps are so unreliable

my pas has just stopped working, i have changed battery and tapped th epump with a small hammer to which sorted it for a day or 2. but now it doesnt work at all i do have a small leak from where the thin metal pipe goes on to the pump (the one with the nut around it) i also no i have a air leak i originally thought i jad a air lock as when i turn the steering lock to lock bubbles come out of the fluid resivouire, any ideas car is a saxo vts 1999, cheers.

sorry to thread hijack but why make another thread lol

That points to either a dodgy earth/connection on the alternator or a faulty alternator mate.
