Fitting hispec/willwood 4 pots?

  1. #1
Would i need a different master cylinder or can they be used with the standard one? apart of the brakes do i need anything else to fit them?

    Thanks

No you DONT need to change the m/c to a 23mm one but people do advise it. The only difference is pedal feel and pressure but you can change that and your travel by bleeding and moving the brake bias bar, down to personal preference.
You will only need Disks and pads to match but if you buy a package you'll have everything.

Thanks for the reply! are 23mm M/C's off another car or are they aftermarket?

They are off other peugeot citroen cars.
If going down the wilwood route you need different hoses as the thread in the caliper is different.

i used standard goodridge hoses in wilwood midiltes a few yeas back??
pretty sure there still m10x1 but i will admit they were to short so longer ones are needed

the thread on willwoods is an imperial taper thread.
A 10x1 may go in but you risk doing alot of damgae to the caliper.

Two port and four port is how many pipes go in to mc you want one with the same number as your car has

i had 10x1s in and saw no damage to them ran them for about 3 years then a mate ran them on his pug too

if they are wrong then they certainly arent at the point of stripping threads
know a few guys running standard fitment lines in them

If you have abs then you'll have 2hoses that run from the m/c to the abs pump, on non abs models you have 4 hoses and each one goes to a caliper.

Have a look and see how many you have, easy as that

Mine defo need imperial fittings.....m10x1 wouldnt screw into the caliper.
  12. #12
fuck knows then mine happily did
  13. #13
You can get an adaptor that screws in to the wilwood that in turn has an m10 female union in it, though most people prefer to run the correct lines

i can also get them made to any length you want and at a price far better than rallye design.

Thanks for all the reply's and help!

What do people think of these 4 pots? worth the money or better off just putting some better disks and pads on?

    Thanks!

well i can speak from experience having gone from 266mm setup with ferodo DS2500 pads to the wilwood 285mm setup and EBC yellowstuff pads the braking force is probably about the same to be honest, only difference you really get is the wilwood caliper is MUCH lighter than the 266mm one and 4 pots "look" nicer behind my alloys lol.

I loved my wilwoods with yellow pads. gave me real confidence in braking. However, i rarely used them to maximum potential and i'm sure i could have saved £200 and have a 266mm set up comply with my needs lol.

Unless using a lot on track, i can't see any real benefit of 4pots over a good 247mm set up, or a 266mm set up at the most.

one of the benefits of 4 pots is that pads are usually cheaper, meaning that if you intent to keep the car and go through alot of pads (lots of track work), then they will end up saving you money. Not to mention they are significantly lighter.

The calipers I suppy are approx 4kg lighter EACH compared to bosch single pot sliding calipers

as you view it a standered hose is on the left and a willwood fitting on the right

been contemplating this for a while - the HiSpec Ultralight 4 M16 Lugmount should bolt straight up and are available direct for a pretty good price. Just not convinced about the pad size as it seems quite a small contact area. Might do it when i start using car more, no point spending the cash until though.

^ Correct, it will mount up to the strut, but it wont fit with any off the shelf disks.
  24. #24
My car is a daily driver so reading it doesn't sound like i would get the full potential from 4 pots.

What would people recommend? Just a good set of disks and pads or just standard disks and pads for road use?

    Thanks

you spec them for discs, 22mm i think (off top of my head)

im still undecided - will take mine out a few times more and get better at driving before i need better brakes!

and what about the diameter of the disks? the M16 offset doesnt suit and off the shelf disks
