Hi all,
I recently purchased a Saxo VTR Mk2 with 54K on the clocks. Bit of a bargain for the price however, i've noticed a few niggles it has and was wondering if anyone could help. I don't have a service guide or haynes manual yet but I am very handy with a big toolbox!
1) Rear heated windscreen doesn't work. The fuses are ALL ok both in the engine bay and in the car. The switch doesn't light up when you press it and from what I can see on the multimeter there is no power going through to the rear.
2) There is a clicking noise intermittently on one of the relays under the glovebox. It sounds exactly like it would when you turn an indicator on and i *think* its the indicator relay thats doing it. Any ideas? - Is the relay related to the above issue?
3) There is a damp, no, wet patch in the boot. It is located at the right hand side and the carpet has split into multiple parts (in the right hand quarter of the boot) due to it. Is this commonplace on saxo's. What is the cure please? - I cannot see anything obvious that is leaking into it, any clues etc.
4) I need to replace the rear pads it. As far as I'm aware its running standard discs and pads. What do people recommend? I'm not putting it on a track so figured I'd stay relatively standard. I ride a sports bike for my thrills! Mintex? Should I be changing the discs as well as the pads too?
5) I've looked at the FAQ on here, can I please confirm that the fog light bulb is a H1? and also what wattage should I get or are they simply standard?
6) Do they run any better with a particular type of oil/brand? My motorbike was extremley specific but I'd guess cards nowerdays arn't?
7) Is there anything else that the Mk2 saxo's really suffered from that I need to check for an be aware of?
