Need something grippy for the Mx5

Ladies, I just took the mx5 for a spin and ended up quite literally spinning. Now let me paint the picture. I approach the (very wet) roundabout at about 10mph, after having my wheels loose traction on this island before I keep at a sensible 10mph round it when I feel the back end let go and I'm facing the wrong way.

I corrected it and the only thing damaged was my confidence but this can't be right. I wasn't on the power, I didn't lift off I was just coasting round.

I'm currently running Pirelli P6000's which are famous ditch finders I know. They've seen a bit of gravel sliding but they look in ok condition still. I'm looking for something that'll get me through winter and won't break the bank.

Any suggestions please? Before anybody mentions driving style - a snail could've overtaken me round that island lol. Couldn't see any diesel spill marks either.

Been recommended Falken 912's as a decent all rounder. Cheap too. Although they're meant to be summer tyres apparently they're decent on snow too and good on track. Anyone had any experience?

iv used pirelli p6000 for a while and never had a problem with them even when hammering my 306 beyond what eny car should have to suffer in all weather conditions...

my dad has just started using maxis MAZ4S he seems to think that they feel better in the wet than my pirellis and after using his car for the last couple of days i am now inclined to agree...
but imo every one has a preference as to what suits their driving style youve just gotta find yours...

P6000s are commonly regarded as absolute shite on MX5s.

I ran ZE912s on a pair of wheels for a short time and they didn't seem bad. Problem with 14s is, you've got a pretty limited choice of wheels. I'd say the ZE912s are probably your best bet.

P6000 are good tyres, on the right type of vehicle.
stick them on a C-Max or Mariva and you wont have any problems

same as all tyres though, depending on vehicle, will depend on how they perform.
as its starting to get abit "slippery" outside, lower your pressures a wee bit.

handfull less Psi, and fuck the winter tyres. sorted.

My brother has these on his 106 and they have been pretty good tbf, when i read reviews on them a fair few were saying they'd rather these and save some money that buying things such as t1rs.

My brother managed to get them for £55 fitted and balanced. he had nexens before for about the same price and he said the falkens are far better!
