nackerd axle bearings needs a refurbed or second hand axle sometimes get away with replacing just bearings depends how bad stub pins are worn if you just relplace bearings its anyones guess how long it will last.

Thanks mate so if I was to get it refurbed and say worst case whats the most il spend?
  4. #4
a fully refurbed one is expensive have a look on im axles site.the problem is you can get a second hand axle have it fitted then a few month down the line it might go again.with a proper refurbed one from im axles you have no worries you pay for what you get (-; i just replaced the bearings in mine they cost me about £80 my pins appeared ok and took the risk a year and half later its still good but again you just dont no how long it will last or how bad ur stub pins are till its stripped down.

How bad is it cambered in?

If it's bad then you are looking at a refurb (about £350) or a 2nd hand one (£100-£200).

A second hand one could be fubared or not last long so you may be better off with a refurb, luck of the draw with 2nd hand axles.

Unless it's rubbing the arch or your MOT is soon then I could leave it until near your MOT and change it then.

Having your refurbed will be about the same price as buying a refurb.

PM a member called IMAxles or IM_Axles (cant remember thier exact name) for a price on a refurb.

If you haven't got £350 to spend, check on Ebay or the for sale section here (need to pay £10 for premium to access them) and get a 2nd hand one.

    Easy enough to fit.

How would I go about removing my old pins and fitting new ones, is this something I can do at home?

pins have to be pressed in so unless you got a hydaulic press in your garage you will have to get someone else to do it

I got a second hand back axle fitted on my VTR this week.
Including MOT Test + re-test they charged me £363.00.
The axle looks in a good enough condition and there's no play at all. I didn't want to pay for a reconditionned axle though I think it's the best solution if you want to keep you car for a while.

Same time last year just before the MOT they replaced one of the bearings but it didn't last for very long (a year..) as the axle was bugered.

i replaced bearings on mine 2 months ago and the camber is coming back
  15. #15
It is very unusual that just changuing the brgs will cure the problem .
think how ong the arm is
so even a small amount of wear on axle shaft will be multipled by a huge amont by the time you look at the wheel.
IF ANY MOVEMENT AT ALL ON BRGS IT WILL BE A PROBLEM
less than 1mm play at shaft will be at 10-15mm at wheel and cause the camber issue.
