is my gearbox dying?

as title says. just recently replaced both drive shafts and wheel bearings. refilled the gearbox oil. everything was fine for about a fortnight. now i have a whirring noise.it's more noticeable when de-cellerating.sounds like its low on oil, but have no visible leaks....i can still get all gears, and there is no grinding when getting into gear.it's just this whirring sort of noise, defo coming from gearbox...........maybe!!!! any one else had this problem or similar

    cheers

    LOL

it sounds like the sort of noise a gearbox makes when its on its way out.
check the oil level is correct.
also push the clutch in when decelerating and see if the noise goes away, could be wheel bearings done up to tight or something

    sounds like diff

    diff on way out mate

My diff has done this for years.... to be more specific is the Diff, or the Diff bearings?

usually starts as wear in the diff bearings, the slight bit of movement in them allows the crown wheel and pinion to move in and out of engagement slightly which leads to the howling noise that is signs of diff wear
