Replacement throttle body questions

  1. #1
If anyone can help my curiosity about the Sax throttle body

-Why would throttle body suddenly become unresponsive-what is it about the Saxo throttle body that breaks down and warrants a replacement?

-If I was to thoroughly remove and clean my existing throttle body would it require any resetting(thinking diagnostic tool here) of any sorts to get it performing as new again? Or will the ECU just relearn its new values etc?

Just a couple of things I've always wondered so thought I'd ask

Sometimes the throttle body and throttle flap can become 'coated' with carbon (a dark sticky substance) , but this wont/shouldnt cause any major unresponsiveness, there are a few other sensors in the inlet manifold that could cause hesitation/ unresponsive feel, my MAP sensor was faulty and made the car lose power and hesitate, but its worth cleaning the throttle body first

Also after cleaning the throttle body (as you can do this in situe... no need to remove- just remove the air pipe/ airfilter and wipe inside the throttle body), you wont need to reset anything, just take it for a drive
