Pretty sure that`d be the actuator breaking down so it`s not operating the control rod properly(like straining)hence the whinning sound.

where do you find the actuator?

Open the tailgate remove the plastic panel, look up & you`ll see a rectangular box with a metal rod attached to it.The box is you actuator.

Is it easy to remove mate ?

Fiddly, just be careful where the control rod clips into the actuator via plastic lug they are fragile. So use some long nose pliers. It`s best explained in the Haynes manual mate.

cheers steve , would i need to bend the rod to get at all to get it into the lug ? had a quick look don't see alot of movement in getting it out of the lug and in again , would it be easier taking the bolts out to the lock ? cheers steve :0)

Get a pair of long nose pliers & gently bend the piece of plastic that holds the end of the rod, then unclip the rod.

exactly some breakers are abit unrealistic with prices for silly bits such as that acuator ! when you can get a whole tailgate for 40 quid , don't make much sense ..

lols! I also saw some prices that are really unbelievable. There's this tailgate that cost only £58.75 and there is this one that is the Citroen Saxo tailgate that is customized that cost £1,057.49. Well the reputation would always be at stake. so better checked the credibility of the owner.
