Car keep over heating soooo bad!!

   As title says.. over heats within a couple of minutes in traffic.. and have to have heater blowers on full all the time.. and sits on the block below the top on the gague..
   It only has water in? if that makes a difference? lol
   Does it need bleeding properly? or does it just need a new rad.. the old one looks a bit battered..
   
   The car has recently had the headgasket done..
   
   Any help would be great!

   why does it only have water in?
   
   you NEED to have anti freeze in the mix too, remember, water freezes boils expands etc, your going to be fucked in a few more weeks when the water in your engine freezes!!

   +1 & it wants bleeding as well to get rid of the air locks,if this was done at a garage then i`d be furious,but i`ll hang fire until I hear more details.

   not good when water freezes! when i bought the car, dont think the person before put enough anti-freeze in, didnt think to check it before winter.
   set of one day, never seen a car shake so much luckily everything was fine.
   
   so yes get some anti-freeze.

   Read the bottle, generally 50/50 mix iirc but some do vary slightly

   As said 50 50 mix does vary slightly i tend to put a stronger mix in because of the harsh winters.and i always use the pink antifreeze cos its.beautiful haha

   get some anti freez man. personally i mix up 5 ltrs at a time using 3 ltrs anti-freeze and 2 ltrs water.
   
   do you have a haynes manual? that tells you how to fill the system properly (it actually works lol)
   
   also flush you rad and system out while it's all disconnected

    With antifreeze a mix of 50/50 will be fine as for your over heating problem when was the water pump last changed? My bet is on that or you've just got one of the dodgy batch of saxos mate. My first one used to over heat as soon as I stopped for anything and I had changed the rad/water pump/sensors/thermostat and radiator hoses and in the end had to wire a second fan in on a switch so I could turn it on and off when I wanted

    hey its had cambelt water pump and head gasket done about 1k ago.. its got a twin fan on it.. but its over heats when im driving and its on 3/4 i dont know if a new rad/ thermostat antifreeze/water will help it out a bit!

    best thing is to wire in the second fan to a manual switch and use it as and when you want to mate costs alot less than trying to fix it other wise
