wheel has fell off

    earlier on was parked in a carpark went to pull of heard a loud clunk and then the car dropped and wouldnt move got out to find my ball joint snapped wheel fell out and pulled the driveshaft out aswell. arch is dead gearbox oil is all over the floor. can some one please explain what would be the first port of call to start repairing this please http://www.facebook.com/#!/photo.php...type=1&theater

    New wishbone, top up gearbox, new wing if its completely mullered

    Not a big job,as said,put your driveshaft back in the gearbox,new wishbone,top up gearbox oil and find a second hand wing in same colour. Job done.

    no biggie, but somehow it's good enough that it snapped while you were parked, as in damage limitation. Imagine while driving...

    if that had happened half hour later i would of been doing 70 odd mph on the motorway , thats what scares me

    check out the other wishbone while your at it chances are that side is on the way out aswell and you don't want it happening twice

    for it to have failed like that, its been on its way out for ages, down to piss poor maintainence really

    tbh its my first car and i aint really mechnicly minded like ive said to brett when he said he checked all his and changed it, i wouldnt have a clue what im looking for.

    should ov heard the balljoint knocking like a pig even when its worn/ thats when u change it. but urs has seem to have gone behond the point of just being worn lol but goodluck getting it fixed..

    funny thing is drivers side started knocking recently but the side that snapped only started knocking about 15 minutes before it snapped

    are you sure it werent just the pinch bolt came out or snapped causing the ball joint to separate from the rest of the strut?
