play in gear

   just bought a VTR, the gear stick moves in all directions while in gear, it has no problem going into gear and staying in gear, there is a lot of play in it
   
   should this be looked at or not

   It's just your split pin in the gearbox that needs replacing. Won't cause any issues. May be worth doing though.
   
   Cost £2 - 3 from Citroen and takes 1 - 2 hours to do as you need the gearbox out.
   
   You'll be left with a nice tight box with no play on the gear stick.

   More like 38p carlos Some dealers may say you have to buy a pack of 10 though so be prepared to pay a couple of quid.

   Yeah, they only sell as a pack now. Which is pointless! lol Why would you need 10 odd split pins!

   cheers, but citroen will be the LAST place i take it, took my c4 there tried charging me £220 for wipers,

   No, don't get Citroen to do it LOL. Buy the split pin from them, it's £3 quid.
   
   Do it yourself or get a garage to do it.

   The pin is less than £1 from the dealers.
