Starter gear knob installation

  1. #1
I bought a Type VR Push Engine Start Gear Knob. Ive scrolled through and seen 1 or 2 other people who's bought and fitted one, i had a go at looking where to install it earlier but couldn't get my head around it. i try to do most of the work myself but somethings i cant do

is it possible if someone has installed one of these on a 1.1 saxo to take pictures of where to attach each wire the igniton part is the most important...too many cables.

also was wondering is it such a good idea to just chop the gear lever down to make it lower and look sportier or should i just avoid that completely and maybe look into buying a shortshifter?

wouldn't touch these with a barge pole, cheapnasty stuff. Unless you fancy crunching the starter motor every time you push that button by mistake.

Didn't they supply a fitting manual with it?

Yeah they did but just says connect to so and so, when i took the panel off under the steering column to have a look at installing it there was so many cables around because of the immobiliser so thought id leave it and ask here or will ask friends when i get the chance.
there is cheapy nasty ones out there, i know someone who got a flimsy one but this one is solid and not a copy so hopefully all good anyone with pics?

Some have built push start buttons, they might be able to help you out with the wiring.

yeah i know, i got this one because of that, saw one without cover and knew it wasnt a good idea...does anyone know the names of people with this gear knob installed that i can mail?

what i would do, is somewhere there is a guide on how to install a switch to start the engine, i would look at that and just imagine his switch is your gear knob, as the wiring will still be the same, just the location of the switch is different I will search it in a bit when i can
